Gabriel Orozco

Gabriel Orozco: Natural Motion at Kunsthaus Bregenz in Austria presents mainly new works by the Mexican artist that have been conceived specially for the exhibition. The exhibition is spread over all four levels of the exhibition building designed by Peter Zumthor. The show starts with the large-scale sculpture Dark Wave, Orozco's almost fifteen meter long synthetic resin reconstruction of the skeleton of a whale, which the artist covered with a complex geometrical pattern. The first floor is dedicated to Gabriel Orozco's new stone sculptures that stand in the modernist tradition of European sculpture such as Hans Arp, Constantin Brancusi, and Barbara Hepworth and at the same time express the engagement with indigenous cultures. The show contiues on the second floor with Orozco's Terracotta works, before it finally provides the visitor with the reencounter of one of Gabriel Orozco's most famous works, the slimmed Citroën DS car, but in a new version. A note for DS owners and fans: There's a Citroën DS gathering on August 30, 2013.
