Alfred Dreyfus, né le 9 octobre 1859 à Mulhouse, mort le 12 juillet 1935 à Paris, est un officier français d'ascendance alsacienne et de confession juive, victime en 1894 d'une erreur judiciaire qui est à l'origine d'une crise politique majeure des débuts de la IIIe République, l'affaire Dreyfus (1894–1906), au cours de laquelle l'opinion française s'est divisée en deux clans ennemis : les dreyfusards et les antidreyfusards
